Called “the Andy Kaufman of love songs,” singer-songwriter Austin Weber is the cult hero of the internet age. A unique machine of melody and aesthetic at the intersection of Jonathan Richman and Jaques Tati, Austin is the mastermind of a body of sonic and visual work that’s both incisive and irrelevant, satirizing modern times while sympathizing with those of us living through it. His songs and music videos are a collage of references, reaching deep into the grab-bag of the collective unconscious and using those odds and ends—early YouTube blogging and pop songs, David Attenborough animal documentaries and high-school heartbreak, synthesizers and cowboys—to build ebullient beauty that resonates and remains.

Austin is post-geographic (based in LA), post-temporal

(we’re not quite sure what this means), and 26 years old.

He rides his bycicle and talks to his friends every day for

song ideas, filling his oeuvre with faces familiar to all

denizens of the present: highschoolers, long-distancers,

chance encounters, clubbers, and neighbors, juuls, fools,

uber-pools, wobbly stools, and lost-cools.

Ever since breaking out of Boston basements and onto

the scene in 2018 with his viral cover of “Mamma Mia,”

Austin has garnered a devoted following of weirdos and

normies of all ages (though the bell curve hovers squarely over 18-27) and plays enrapturous, theatrical shows to them across the country featuring larger-than-life puppet monsters, lucha libre matches, Gregorian chant ceremonies, and more too special to divulge.

His numbers are good, I mean really good, especially for someone who files his own taxes and makes his own EPK, and you can find them all below.

He’s the most independent musician in the world, sent to make your day, and quite possibly your life, a better place.
